About
Gordon has enjoyed a 30+ year career in Voice and Speech teaching and still enjoys tutoring private clients today.
Gordon studied speech under Cicely Berry, voice coach for the Royal Shakespeare Company, and continued his studies with the renowned phonetics expert, Greta Colson.
Subsequently, he taught speech and radio technique at the Guildford School of Acting, coaching the winner of the Carleton Hobbs Radio Award.
Gordon has held posts at; The Brian Timoney Acting Company, ALRA (Academy of Live and Recorded Arts), the Webber Douglas Academy; Rose Bruford College and Richmond upon Thames College. He has also taught at Mountview Drama School and tutored students for the Italia Conti Academy degree course. Gordon was Head of Speech at the London Theatre School and went on to become Head of Voice at the London Academy of Performing Arts and later Head of Voice at London's Method Studio. Gordon had a long and successful career as an actor and broadcaster, playing numerous roles in West End productions such as: Bye Bye Birdie; Irma La Douce;The Bar Mitzvah Boy and "78 Revolutions”.
His TV credits include: "Doctor Who", "The Liver Birds", "No Exit",
"War and Peace", "St. Ives", "Softly, Softly", "When the Boat Comes in",
"Z Cars", "Crossroads" and "Colditz.” He also regularly hosted ‘English
By Radio’, a BBC series of English language, distance learning programmes.
Several of Gordon's younger students have won places at Eton College and at Oxford University and his teaching of poetry and narration has been instrumental in his students achieving Trinity and Guildhall diplomas.
